今日、8月16日は、「月遅れ盆送り火」です。
これは、お盆に帰ってきた先祖の霊を送り出す行事です。有名なのが、「京都の五山の送り火」や、「長崎の精霊流し」です。
「京都の五山の送り火」では、京都を囲む山々に五つの送り火を灯し、お盆に迎えた精霊をふたたび冥土に送り帰します。
「長崎の精霊流し」では、藁や木で作った船にお供え物を乗せて川や海に流し、先祖の霊を送ります。
